By eliminating the curb (shown on the left) and providing a 36” opening you can provide yourself the access you may need in the future.
When eliminating the curb make sure your contractor slopes the floor slightly in towards the drain to help redirect the flow of the water.
Keep in mind a larger bathroom provides more room to maneuver around if needed. Changing out a cabinet or mirror in the future is less work than having to remodel your whole bathroom again.
